Got to have a plan!

Thank you all who are concerned about my well being,

especially after my little man JJ has left.

I miss waking up to this little face!

I lasted with that little guy here for 5 whole weeks! Wow!

I was exhausted, but VERY happy to have him

and get to know him so much better!

We did so many fun and amazing things together!

I am doing very well, actually.

Started eating healthier,

and back to exercising

(although it's very slow and painful to start all over).

This weekend my man and I are taking time to do a juice fast.

As well as have a whole day to work on goals,

and plan our 2012 calendar.

Gotta plan for those trips to Florida to see the kiddoes!

And for our alone time getaways!


ahh, yes!

So hopefully by next week I will have a greater picture

of what 2012 will hold for us,

besides just remodeling this little old house!

And, if you want me to consider putting YOU on

the calendar of events, now is the time to let me know!

Miracles never cease!

Yes, it seems a small miracle that I'm actually posting on my blog.

Been about 6 whole months. *that's crazy*

But I am considering getting back into it again.

That could be bad or good for you...depending. *wink*

I felt I needed to just lay low and be quiet awhile.

I felt as though I lost who I was.

I didn't have anything good to say.

I got depressed for a short period,

having a pity party for myself.
*no good reason*

I'm gonna keep it real folks!

I ate myself silly for comfort and put on a gazillion pounds.

Well, okay, it was only 45!

*WHAT???*

We won't focus on that for now, but I will come back to it later.

I've really missed you all.

I hope I have some good stuff to share.

We joined an awesome church...a wonderful body of believers.

It's in Connersville, IN.*of course on the opposite side of town*

Baptist Temple.

At first I thought because they had
the word "Temple" in their name

that it would be hinky...but they are very normal there.

Pastor Tim is a little crazy,
but that's what we love about him! *snicker*
We are slowly but surely getting involved!

We've made some great, solid friends
in the same season of life as we are.

That's incredibly satisfying and comforting.

We have truly been through a lot of stuff (change)
this past year and a half.

I don't want to make that an excuse...I'm just saying.

I hadn't heard from God all through the job search and move.

*He was quiet*

I kinda got upset at Him...well, okay, I got angry.

But God loves me, and it was okay with Him
that I vented some to Him.

I pouted.

I cried.

I sat and watched TV.

I shopped a bunch.

*common, most of it was for the house*

I was lonely, missing my kids and grandkids so much.

I ate to console me in my sad situation.

I mean really?

There's not any great restaurants up here.

Nothing healthy at all.

*kind of stinks*

But I managed to snack on stuff I obviously didn't need.

I have been swimming, but not working out.

Swimming is not a good weight loss exercise by itself.

Thus the extra weight.

Did I mention my knees ache again?

Time I get back into my healthy lifestyle
and do something about it.

We did it once right before the big change in our life.


Last spring when my daughter looked at me and told me I was skinny!

We can do it again and this time keep it off!

*do I hear an Amen, sista!*

We still have so much work to do on our little fixer-upper.

Once we moved into it, the work kind of stopped.

We were tuckered out!

But we plan to take time to write out some goals

which will include house projects and a timeline to get it all done.

*among other lifestyle goals*

Life really is good.

This is the first time my man has lived somewhere

that had a full year of seasonal changes.

He loved it!

*he is doing better with it than I am, and I was born up here!*

I hate the lack of sunshine, and the brutal winds. *yucko*

But fall made up for it in my mind.

My man really does love his new job.

And they love him and his work!

I am thankful he has a job he enjoys and that uses his talents.

Our son and family did move into our Florida home
and made it theirs.
We got to stay there when we went down over Thanksgiving.

It's very cute, and I actually like what they've done!

We are just waiting on them to purchase it from us.

Once that happens, house is paid off...

and we will be TOTALLY DEBT FREE!

Had a fun excursion to Chicago this month.

Went there with my cousin from Florida,
and my sis in law and niece.

What fun to shop and see the sights
of the big windy city!

We had so much fun, we want
to make it an annual event!

Did I mention that we brought
our 4yr old grandson, JJ, home with us?

We went down to Florida over Thanksgiving and

on our trip home, he joined us.

We have had him here for the
WHOLE month of December!

At first I thought I had made the biggest mistake ever.

*that was day one*

I guess we needed to establish a new authority figure.

Once we got through that, life has been fun with him here.

We've kept him busy, and have had us some good times.

Our house is a mess, filled with toys, trains and cars...

everywhere!

But I know it will be gone all too soon, so I'm not complaining!


JJ gets to see snow the first day he's here!


Visiting a train museum in Indy.

Mommy and Daddy will be coming up to get him over New Years.

We are hoping for some snow so we can go sledding for a day

while they are up here.

JJ and his mom and dad!

Then after they leave, life will be quiet around here.

I'll have time to sit and think about goals.

I will make a menu plan and action plan for

our new healthy lifestyle to lose weight for good!

*and to feel better*

My man will be glad he has gotten his wife back to himself.

*let's not ponder on that too much, okay? ha!*

He's a good man, but doesn't like sharing me too much! :)

Going back to being angry at God for being quiet.
I still don't have an answer as to why we had to move.
But my dear friends told me one night,
that they believe God brought me up here for them!
*Wow. That was so sweet!*
I'm at peace with it now, and looking forward to
making the most of it.

So have I forgotten anything?

I'm sure I have.

But that will give me more chances to do updates and new posts, right?

For us, 2011 wasn't such a banner year.

It was just plain old tough.

*physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, financially*

But we made it to the other side of it.

And we are so looking forward to 2012 with gusto!

Bring it on!

Yes, I've been absent

Yes, I've been blue

Yes, I haven't felt like blogging...

But Yes, I sure have missed you!

Ha...sorry about that bad poem, it just came to me.

Life hasn't been super easy for me

and I've had good days and bad.

There is some news about our Florida home.

Our son has decided he wants it so his family will be

moving in soon and we are doing the rent-to-own thing.

We are sad to let it go, but

glad it's going to him--as he and his wifey helped build it!

It will be in good hands!!

The other great happenings was last weekend,

JJ came for a visit, with Aunt Steffi and Uncle Eric.

In true Goey fashion I created a video of the whole week.

Florida Trip - Short and Very Sweet!

Oh yes, we are that couple....

...that owns 2 homes and doesn't live in either one.

This one is for sale still

and I'd really appreciate your prayers,

especially today.

There is a big open house and ours is

open from 1-3pm.

Would you pray with us that something BIG will happen today?

That the family that is supposed to have it, will come by,

fall in love and make an offer? *sweet*

(if it doesn't sell soon, we are considering renting, but I'm really

not a fan of being a landlord)

Then the other little fixer upper house we purchased back in December

we've been fixing up the inside for the past 6 months,

and still have a long way to go!

But we are counting down until we can actually move in.

The bathroom is done as of yesterday.

Started putting cabinets in the kitchen

but had to stop as we are still waiting on a lower kitchen cabinet to finish.


Ended up with a 9" space we could fill with a tray cabinet.

But the microwave is in, and important things

like a coffee pot!

Other fun things are happening--

New dining room hutch purchased

My IKEA table for the kitchen

Pantry door delivered and waiting to be installed

Closet shelving went in yesterday

Guest bedroom valances sewed up and hung

Just love these cute little glass hearts on them!


Notice the shell trim on the bathroom curtains, too?

It's taken us longer than we had hoped,

but we are getting excited to move in soon.

My brother came up a few weekends ago

and helped trim up the front bushes and do some yard work.

Already looking better!

But the big changes will come

once we replace all the windows and do some painting.

Oh and lastly, did I mention that my man has got

shingles on his face? Oh yeah baby.

So all this work while he's not even feeling good.

What a guy!!

So that's my update for now.

I may be absent again for awhile, but be back soon

with more pics after move in day!

Had a wonderful Mother's Day.

At church they passed out this cute little packet of goodies

Each item had a little meaning which was adorable!

*can't wait to eat that Charleston Chew*

Afterwards, my man took me to a local restaurant

Ainsley's Cafe

at Brookville Lake Marina.

A decent wait

(it was crowded and continued to flow in)

but well worth it!

A trip to Lowe's

then off to the house to work on taking

out the kitchen floor.

I counted 72 more to go!

Filling up many of these boxes!

Good news is the drywall is underway

& hoping it gets finished this week.

While we were there a couple from the church

stopped by to chat with us. That was fun!

Came home and got to Skype with a few of my kiddoes.

I'd call that a perfect day for this Goey!

Today I'm off to go spend a few days with my mama.

Out with the old, in with the NEW!

Tile that is!

I struggled with keeping this perfectly

good green tile from the start.

As a good wife, I conceded and was

content to keep it.

But, this past weekend after looking over the new cabinets,

and the need to have more of this green tile to

fill in the gaps, we discovered after much

searching high and low...

that we can't get any more of it.

Anywhere!

*awwww, that's really too bad!*

(note sarcasm!)

So, in my contained giddiness and glee,

I found the perfect match for my

new little place.

*isn't she pretty?*

I think this will compliment everything perfectly,

including these pretty little white cabinets.

So I'm just as happy as can be!

Now I get to choose a new color for my countertops.

I really want butcher block tops from IKEA.

This is what it might look like

Not sure what we'll compromise on though.

*just so you know...it can't be granite--too pricey*

Step by Step Progress

We are plodding along working on the house.

It's hard to keep at it and not really see any improvement yet.

But we know it's all gonna change really soon!

Last weekend my man and a good friend, Jim, helped

us blow in insulation in the walls.

Then I helped my man finish the attic the following Tuesday.

(was.not.happy!!)

But here's the mess they left inside for "moi" to clean up!

Today, we were at it again hashing out details.

Measuring and remeasuring the cabinets and being

sure they are all going to work as planned!

(don't worry, that right corner won't be as close

as it looks--there's a spacer/filler to go in there)

*which happily to say, they seem to working as planned!*

(I owe a big thanks to my niece, Rachel, for this!)

We also got to unveil my new Ikea Farmer's Sink.

*Oh, how I love thee!!*

Dinner Tonight

Baked Tilapia Lasagna Bundles

I got my inspiration from this recipe--

But of course I changed up a few things.

Just had to share the recipe so you could try these little bundles yourself.

Ingredients:

8 - 10 whole wheat lasagna noodles, cooked according to pkg.

1 large carrot, peeled and grated ( or put in food processor)

2 green onions, cut up, and put in food processor along with carrots

1 - 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil

12 oz fresh tilapia fillets (or other white fish of preference)

4 oz. light cream cheese

1/2 C light ricotta cheese

1/2 C skim milk

1/2 tsp dried dill

1 C baby spinach

1/2 tsp salt

pepper to taste

2 oz. reduced-fat mozzarella cheese, grated

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350

2. Grate or chop in food processor the carrots and green onions

3.Prepare lasagna according to directions, rinse and cool

4. Cook tilapia fillets in skillet with olive oil. I seasoned mine with Goya, McCormicks All Purpose Seasoning, Salt, and Pepper. (both sides) Cook about 4 min each side. Cool, then break up fillets into pieces and put with carrots and onions.

5. Add cream cheese, ricotta cheese, skim milk, dill and salt into a medium saucepan. Use a spatula to break up cream cheese into smaller pieces. Place pan on med to low heat and cook, whisking constantly for about a minute until cheese is melted. Add half of the mozzarella cheese and baby spinach and continue stirring until smooth and take off heat.

6. Add fish and carrot mixture to cheese mixture and stir well.

7. Take lasagna noodles and lay out flat on a solid surface. I spread the fish/cheese mixture along each noodle then carefully rolled each one up as neatly as I could. Place into a glass casserole dish, or onto a non-stick foil lined cookie sheet. Reserve a bit of fish/cheese mixture for the top of each bundle. Then sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese on each top.

8. Cook for about 25 minutes or until mozzarella is melted and beginning to turn golden brown.

Sorry no finished picture just yet.

I plan to steam some veggies, like snow pea pods, snap peas, carrots, and beans to go along with these little beauties. Yum.

I also think these would hold up well frozen for later.

Let me know what you come up with as you could add just about anything to it and if you try these for dinner soon.

Home Sweet Home

I'm really not even sure where that is.

I think I've slept in 8 or 9 different beds in the past month.

Been away from my little town of Connersville too long.

My dad had double knee replacement surgery last month so I went up to stay with my mom for moral support as well as go back once dad was released from rehab to help out.
My brother's wife had surgery so in between trips to my folks we snuck over to Indy to visit her and take my brother and niece out for lunch.
also got to stop at a Home Depot while in Indy to buy PAINT. ha...gotta love it!
Then the very day after I had gotten back from my parents, we got a call no one wants to get---my husband's brother's wife was in her last days as her kidneys were shutting down from her battle with cancer. We hopped in the car and drove to Georgia to hopefully get to see her one more time. We did make it and talked to her that night. She passed away the next morning. My girls drove up but missed their window to visit with Miriam. We ended up staying a few days longer, because they had her funeral on Tuesday of last week. Our little guy, JJ was with us too, so that was a fun distraction from all the sadness. I got to sleep in the same bed with him, and he was a trooper!
After the funeral my daughter, JJ and I continued back to Florida where I stayed for another week. woo hoo! I got my Goey fill, and saw the kids, checked on my house for sale--that is not selling, and visited a few friends, and got my hair done. Ahhh, nothing like a good hair cut!

Flew back yesterday evening, and had the WORST flight I've ever had.

Turbulence like crazy and I felt like I

was on a roller coaster ride most of the way.

Many of the people around me were complaining about the bumps and jumps.

The lady in my row was getting nauseous. *not fun*

My man was waiting for me and wisked me away to the

closest Olive Garden restaurant.

We had us a wonder waitress and one fine meal!

Then the nice country drive to home sweet home

*I mean apartment*

Yup, it's not much, but it feels like home!

Progress on the real house is coming along nice a slow like.

It's good to be back and today I'm catching up on the budget,

paying all the bills,

going through mail,

trying to get a grocery list together,

and

catching up on the blog world.

I've missed you all so much. It's good to be back.

Fought the good fight

fought the good fight for many years now,

but cancer has gotten the best of her.

We got the call she's in her "last days"

so we are off to go for a visit,

pray, laugh, cry with the family.

Then I'm continuing down to Florida

for a WHOLE WEEK to stay

with my kids and grandbabies.

Bittersweet.

So my adorable little man Brandon had an unfortunate accident

at the park tonight, and was taken to the hospital

to get some staples put in the back of his cute little head.

He sat up after having been held down and said,

"All done!"

Ouch...that sure looks like it hurts.
Brandon was so brave and tough!

Wishing this Goey could be there to kiss him and make it all better.

But I'm sure his mommy and daddy are doing lots of that!

My man greeted me at the apartment when

I got back yesterday, but only for a brief lunch.

He had an opportunity to take a helicopter ride

in the skies of central Indiana to patrol some power lines.

It was rather impromptu, but he jumped on the chance!!

I said goodbye to my daddy last night at the hospital,

after he enjoyed this from Burger King:

Dad is doing GREAT and growing stronger each day in rehab.

I'm traveling back to my honey this morning.

Be on the road till about noon.

Then in the arms of this man:


Which we were going to sunny Florida, but don't think that's happening just yet.

I plan to help him pull wire in at our new

fixer upper house this weekend.

Have a date.

Maybe go visit my sis in law in the hospital in Indy,

and see my brother.

Then Monday drive back to my parents to help my mom

get dad home and back into a routine.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to one and all.

(I'm not wearing green today...uh oh!)

Dining Room Hutch dilemna

Just curious, out of these 3 hutches for the dining room...which one is your favorite? The maple one last one, would get painted some color and new hardware that matches the kitchen cabinets. The burgundyish one would match colors in the curtains and other things I have. And the goldish one, not sure, just liked it.

They are all about the same price range.

Feedback? Things for me to consider?

It's Official--I'm a Hoosier again

I look like I've put on 100 pounds in that IN picture!!" *sigh*

Just had to get that off my chest.

My dad is having a partial knee replacement

on BOTH of his knees Friday.

I am going up probably tomorrow to spend some time with them,

and help out as I can.

*I should probably be getting the surgery with him!*

Hopefully while in the hospital I'll have some time

to do some blog posts.

A Blank Page...

I am staring at a blank page,

and

nothing....absolutely nothing.

That's how I've been lately.

Nothing great or creative is coming my way to share.

I will tell you that we are working

on the house, and making

many trips to Lowe's to get things. *that's always fun*

(especially when we are staying under budget!!)

Occasionally getting to Skype with my little guys!

*smiles all around when that happens*

Today my knees are hurting,

especially my right knee, so I am laying low.

Things are going well, and we remain positive and hopeful.

When an inspiration does come my way

you can count on me to share.

As always...I appreciate all of your prayers and

encouragement coming our way.

Someone asked me if I miss Florida.

I really don't think I am missing Florida--

just missing my kiddoes and the little guys.

Being up here close to family and

staying busy sure does help ease the longing of

hearing those cute guys calling for "Goey".

For now I remain content in where God has us.

It is all for a reason, and He has yet to uncover His purpose!

Today I'm listening to Francesca Battistelli.

Started my day early in the pool,

swimming my mile. *yeah*

Spending my afternoon making calls,

checking into getting our wills redone in

this great state of Indiana,

making address changes,

paying bills online,

updating the budget,

thinking on, scheming about and making plans

on the house redo. *fun*

Got to Skype with my little men over the weekend!! *joy*

Mailed them both cute little Hallmark recordable books,

and some treats.

*we had so much fun recording them*

Thinking that tomorrow is my oldest daughter, Nicole's 27th birthday,

and missing not only her, but all my kiddoes and little guys.

Looking forward to this weekend as we are

going to my parents up in Goshen!

*good food, and free laundry service*

Gonna hook up with my decorator niece

and get some kitchen and bathroom layout ideas,

paint colors and designs nailed down.

What if and If only thinking is counterproductive.

When you succumb to this kind of thinking,

you fail to acknowledget God's role in your past.

Remembering God's promises will use our energy

to draw close to God in the present and deal

with things that are true and real...right NOW.

Trusting God's truths mean we experience

peace instead of worry

when we choose to believe the Bible's

promises that God will superintend every future event.

Therefore...

Nothing will ever happen to you that God does not already know about (Ps 139:1-4)
Nothing will ever happen to you that is a mistake (Ps 139:4,16)
Nothing will ever happen that you cannot handle by God's power and grace (2 Cor. 12:9-10)
Nothing will ever happen to you that will not eventually be used by God for some good purpose in your life (Romans 8:28)
Nothing will ever happen to you without God's presence (Matthew 28:20)
Nothing will ever separate you from God's love (Romans 8:38-39) - God has promised that any and all "negative" events in the past will be "overruled" and worked for good to make you more like Christ. By His transforming power, God will redeem even the worst, the most painful, and the most perplexing aspects of your past.

Having gone through the what ifs, and if onlys early on last year and seeing the negative effects it was having on my health and my life, I had to choose to trust God's sovereignty and believe His hand sifted it all and meant it for MY GOOD. He has been involved in my life...past, present, and future.

All things work together for good...

Adventures in making a 1000 mile move

It's been a long time coming.

I wish I had more pictures than I do to remember everything.

The move from the Sunshine State of Florida,

*which we called home for the past 28 years*

to the cold, snowy Hoosier state of Indiana.

The packing seemed to last forever...and ever!

Boxes started taking over the house.

Details upon details, list after list of items needed to be done.

Friends came to help just when we needed it most.

The countdown began once my man got into town.

We had less than one week to execute the big move.

The biggest adventure was:

Once we got the first rental truck, we took it out for a 2 hour trip one way to take our office desk to our daughter's home. The truck did not drive well on the way there, and we called Penske many times. We decided to keep on trucking, and on the way back home that night, it eventually broke down on the interstate right past Orlando...about 45 minutes away from home still. While talking to Penske *again* on the phone, they suggested restarting it. My man did, and all of a sudden it starts reving up and going into overdrive, which sounded like a plane taking off. Then it started smoking like crazy, and we thought it was on fire, about to explode. I was frantically trying to get little JJ out of his car seat harness and screaming at my man. He reached over getting the top latch open, grabbing JJ and headed out his door. I opened my door and promptly fell down to the ground. (Smoke was so thick we couldn't see anything, as well as having to hold our breath). All was okay, thankfully, and someone must have called 911, because the police and firetrucks came a rolling in on us.

JJ thought that part was cool...and said later that
Goey was "freaking out"!

Yeah...I guess I was!

(I can't help but think what
Satan meant for harm...God meant for good!!)

I won't bore you with all the other details, but instead will do my usual video of the highlights.

After my man and Skylar Weiss got the truck unpacked,

they celebrated with a steak dinner.

The next day they went sledding and that is how I end up

this adventure video...with my man sledding down the hill.

A special thanks to each and everyone that helped make all of this possible.

From supplying boxes, packing, preparing food, the fellowship,
the cleaning, loading, moving,

putting us up for a few days and feeding us,

to making the drive to the other end and unloading.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Since being here, life has been fun, relaxing and sweet.

I just know big things are in store for us.

One Content Birthday Girl!

I have so much to be thankful for today.

Thank you for all of your wishes on my special day today.

Today I turn 50.

Wow.

Not where I wanted to be physically,

but other than that I can't complain.

God has been good.

I woke up today after a busy, busy week,

and was surprised by a knock on our apartment door.

The internet guy was here already to get me hooked up.

So after a few hours of hard work, on his part..

I am back online.

Couldn't of been a nicer gift to this woman.

I have so much to tell you all, but not enough time right now.

In a little while, my man is coming to pick me up

and we are gonna go grocery shopping.

I plan to buy us some neat things for a wonderful

Asian Salmon Treat...yum.

And Crunchy Noodle Salad to go with it.

I thought about going out tonight,

but frankly I am tired and staying home sounds delightful.

Plus I haven't been able to cook an awesome meal

in many, many weeks so I am excited to cook something special.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

We are living temporarily in an upstairs apartment.

Our landlords are in their 80's and don't get out much.

I am going to make extra and take them some for dinner.

They are precious and have been such a blessing to us.

This morning the lady played

Happy Birthday on the piano for me and I could hear it!!

It just made me smile!

Okay...that's all for now.

Wish I had more time,

but wanted to let you all know we made it

safe and sound.

A New Year of Great Expectations!

I for one am glad this year is coming to an end.

It's been a very difficult one with

many challenges and disappointments.

But just in this past week, we have seen

God move in a mighty way for us,

and has given us much HOPE

for our new upcoming year.

I haven't had much time at all to just sit,

reflect and plan out new goals,

but I know it will be an

exciting ride with my man.

Tonight we plan to have Chinese take out,

maybe go see a movie,

and then just relax...quite sure

not staying up till midnight. Ha.

I will be flying home to FL in a few more days,

then the real planning begins.

I have a few weeks or so, until we

officially pack up and make the

move to IN...still no finalized date yet.

But it is coming, and I for one am

eager to make it happen.

Can't wait to start fixing up our new little house,

and making it into our new home sweet home.

Over the next few months I'm sure I will

call on you for advice and decorating ideas.

I can't thank you all enough for helping to carry

me through the lows of this past year.

Your words of encouragement,

your prayers,

your love and compassion,

your friendship...

has meant more to not only me

but my man as well.

He thanks you too.

God is good, and He will continue to

complete what He has begun.

Ask and You Shall Receive

It has truly been a whirlwind two weeks. We have been praying for this for a long time, and asking God to show us the way and provide in a big way. He has done just that. Things have moved for us so quickly and so smoothly our heads are spinning. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and thankfulness to God for His provision.

We found our home to be in just one day...actually it was the very first house we looked at (we did look at alot, but kept coming back to this one). Made an offer the next day, and they accepted it on Friday of last week. Monday we had faxing and paper work to accomplish, lots of phone calls, but all the details were coming together without any problems. Our realtor says we are scheduled to close Thursday at 10:30am. Wow. Today we were able to walk through it and measure it out, and take lots of pics. Currently we are sitting at the local McDonald's and I am using their WiFi while my man is drawing out a layout of the house on graph paper for me so I can start dreaming and seeing how furniture will fit in it.

There is so much yet to be done, and lots of demolition and reconstruction. Redo of a kitchen and the bathroom mostly, and maybe redo a few walls/closets, but then it is just cosmetics of paint.
The big things will happen later, like new windows all around, possibly a new roof...but time will tell.

We are excited and overwhelmed all at once. God has truly blessed us and we are trusting Him to guide us each step of the way. Your prayers are being answered in a big way. Our hearts are full of peace and joy.

We reflect on Christmases past, and I mentioned to my man that even though this year has had the least amount of decorations, gifts, and preparations...etc....but it has been one of the BEST, joy-filled years of celebration I can ever remember having. Goes to prove it doesn't take a bunch of materialism to make the holidays bright. It probably helped that I didn't have ANY expectations going into it, so I wasn't disappointed with anything. My heart was free to enjoy whatever happened. I pray I can continue with that same spirit year round. It does free you up to appreciate anything that comes your way.

More details to come as they unfold for us. If I don't make it back before the end of the week, hope you all have a Happy New Year.

Today he turns 52!

We always tease him and say

out of any gifts.

Are we crazy or what?

Houses are plentiful up here, and there are so many good deals to be had. We went out one afternoon and looked at at least 10 homes for sale. The first one won our hearts and we couldn't get passed it. It's a bank owned fixer upper, and from the minute I saw it I knew I wanted it. It's in the perfect location for me and the indoor pool I want to swim at, only 15 minutes from my man's work, but it is on a busy state road. I'm okay with that. If we get it this will be no less than amazing! Want to know what they are asking for it and what we offered? Are you sitting down? Ha. Apparently there were 3 other investors scrambling to make offers so we offered the full asking price and to close next week....a whopping $25K! House is valued at $80K. (Remember I said it was a fixer upper) Anyway, we should get our answer by tomorrow afternoon. Resting in the fact that if God doesn't want us to have it for any reason, than it won't go through...otherwise, we are growing attached to the idea of making this cute little house our new home! Will keep you posted.

Other than that, I am loving being here reunited with my man, enjoying the cold and the snow, having fun trying to beautify my husband's bachelor pad apartment, and excited about celebrating Christmas with my family this year. We set up my mom's aluminum tree and decorated it, put up a few "tacky" lights and are smiling everytime we look at it....lot's to be thankful for!

Rejoicing and Weeping

Just a quick pass this morning as I am getting my bags packed and ready to fly up to the arms of my man.

In these past few days we have rejoiced with my son and his wife (Brandon's parents) that they are going to have a son--due in June I believe. More boys! This is so much fun.

Then a few days after that news, my oldest daughter and husband (JJ's parents) went through a tough miscarriage. She passed out and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and kept overnight. She's back home and doing well now. Many of you knew through Facebook what was going on, and your prayers were appreciated. **On a funny note to this...JJ thought his mom was "cool" because she got to ride inside the "woo woo" truck. He really was oblivious to all that has happened, and doesn't understand even now that his mommy needs to rest.

My heart aches for them, and memories of my own miscarriage flooded through my mind as Nik was going through it all. There was even a dear friend of the family who was going through the very same ordeal this past weekend. These precious little ones are 'safe in the arms of Jesus' now.

Then today, my other daughter, Stephanie and her husband Eric (no kids, just 2 dogs!) are closing on their first home today, and we are all very excited for them. Fun times of home ownership ahead for them!

Anyway, thought I'd drop by to let those of you know what has gone on these past few days if you don't follow me on Facebook.

I'm packing and getting ready to leave for the airport. In just a few short hours I will be with my man up in the cold, frozen tundra of Indiana. Ha. We have a realtor up there who will showing us quite a few homes to look at on Tuesday and Thursday. So many decisions, so much to do. I really want to be able to slow down long enough to enjoy and savor the time and this special White Christmas!

Trying to stay brave

This is an exciting time for us, yes indeed. But with it also comes alot of unknowns, fears, and some struggles.

We have so much to do, and no clear direction. So I am praying fervently asking God to direct us, and give us the answers we need over the next 2 weeks. Life has been so busy lately, not much fun at times, and I would really like to have a fun time up in Indiana with my man over the holidays, and not feel stressed or worried. I want to see God open or close doors of opportunity with such amazement that we can't contain our glee and awe. We are moving ahead ~~in a fog~~ with steps of action (like looking at very inexpensive homes for sale, or rentals) but not even sure that's what we need to be doing. There has been no action on our house down here, so we are trying to figure out if we need to keep it, sell it, or rent it. Still not sure. (Oh, I really want God to do something totally amazing with this whole thing!)

Alot of unknowns as I said. My head hurts from thinking so much. I really am not worrying about it...I can't let myself go down that path. I take care of what's in front of me. I trust that if I move into a direction, and it's not the right way, that God will shut it down and redirect. We've been redirected alot lately.

All this to say, that's why I've been rather quiet. I don't really know what to say. I'm trusting, but confused to say the least. Asking for all of you to pray for us over the next few weeks, and ask God to make our steps CLEAR, and OPEN doors that He wants us to go through. Also, to allow us to ENJOY our time together and not be so consumed with trying to make things happen.

Psalm 34:4 "I prayed to the Lord and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears."

vs. 10- "Those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing."

vs. 17- "The Lords hears his people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles."

I leave Monday for Indiana for two weeks. My man doesn't have internet or TV. (not such a bad thing, eh?) So only when I get to the library or at my folks house will I be able to connect to you all. I will be missing in action for awhile...but praying it will all be for a good reason.

**As girl I used to set up this cute little aluminum silver tree every year. My folks still had it. So when my man was there, he took it home with him. Told me he thought it was the sorriest little thing he'd ever seen. But we are going to have us a tree in his apartment. Ha. I also mailed him some boxes of stuff, and one had some lights in it to put up somewhere. Sounds like a perfect "Charlie Brown" Christmas, doesn't it? It will be a White Christmas too!

Special Ladies

I just had the most AMAZING weekend visiting

some very special ladies in my life.

Left for Pensacola on Sunday by myself.

*had forgotten how much I appreciate

my man doing all that driving!*

First stop was Mike's mom,

my mom-in-love.

We had such a good visit, and

she is a trooper.

You can always count on an awesome breakfast,

hugs, and some fun memories.

We went shopping one day to one

of her favorite Decor stores,

then found McGuire's Irish Pub,

to have some yummy lunch.

*of course, I ate too much!*

Next day, I went to visit a blogging friend,

whom I have grown to love this past year..

Kelly Howard.

All I can say is...WOW! She is the REAL deal!!

Her family is amazing, talented and you

can tell they all adore their mama!

What's not to love?

They welcomed me into their gorgeous home,

and you could feel the Lord's presence in it.

They performed special music selections for me,

Lucy finally did a little dance for me,

and we did lots and lots of talking.

We are kindred spirits...sisters for life!

I was kind of nervous at first, but after our first hug,

Kelly and I connected in a special way.

We have so much in common, it's like

we've been friends forever!

*well, my dear...we are NOW!*

Sadly I had to say goodbye after a few hours of

gabbing and fellowship

*and some delish coffee and apple cake*

and I was off to meet up with my Aunt Nancy.

I love her to death.

Long story short -- I lived with her when I

first came to Pensacola, and she

became very near and dear to my heart then...

and will always be.

We had great conversation, and

was especially happy that my

Cousin Connie joined us for the evening.

We had a wonderful time.

My aunt does origami, and amazes

me with her talents.

The morning I left, she went outside in

the frigid temperature to dig up

some fresh ginger root for me.

Starbucks coffee for the road, and

my "Peace" necklace hanging from my rear view mirror
*gift from Kelly...my new "word" for the upcoming year"

and I was off.

It was hard on my legs/knees to sit that long,

but I jammed to Christmas music the whole way

with plenty of time to

give God thanks

for these special ladies

that have brought such joy and

love to my life!

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

Work has been harder than imaginable for me

these past two weeks.

I'm feeling pretty much like a walking empty shell...

nothing much left of me.

But tomorrow, this man is coming home!

He flies in Thursday morning!!

We are having Thanksgiving in

the barn

at my daughter's place.

(yes, in the barn!! should be interesting!)

All I have to do is make a few

pies, and some

plain old stuffing!

Couldn't be easier, right?

I have to go back to work both

Friday and Saturday,

while my man packs up his man cave.

But we have Sunday to have some

quality time together!

Also, I turned in my resignation notice at work,

so I only have this week, and next to go.

Then I am OFF!!

My man left yesterday afternoon.

He will arrive in Connersville, IN around noon today.

I'm asking for prayer from all of you prayer warriors for

not only continued safety as he travels,

but for SUCCESS in finding the exact

apartment God wants him to have for the

next few months.

It may end up being longer,

if our house doesn't sell.

Which is my next prayer need...

for a buyer for this house!

Before the end of this year would be AWESOME!

The countdown begins!

To start with an update...I told my manager and my head teller at work and they both took it very well. At first they gave me a 'sad' face, but then quickly changed and asked me if I was happy. Once they knew I was (even with mixed emotions) they were happy for me. I am giving them kind of an open ended resignation. I plan to work for sure until the end of November, and am willing to go into December if they need me until a replacement is found. The cool thing is one of my dear friends whom I've worked with in the past before, really would like my job. So I am trying to get her foot in the door so she has a good chance of being hired. That would speed things up quite a bit. :)

One more week until my man is gone. He leaves next Sunday afternoon. We started doing some cleaning out of things, and I have a nice pile of knick-knacks, bowls, crocks, and assorted decorations that I am letting go of. I should post a picture here in case any of you gals would like any of it. We'll see if I have the time later. We are trying to get a few things done each night before my man takes off. He's just renting a trailer to fill up with some things he might need if he has to rent an unfurnished apartment. He's got a few leads and will have to firm them up once he arrives in Connersville. He will have a day and a half to do so before having to report to work on Wednesday, November 10th. (And he has already secured a plane ticket to come back home over Thanksgiving weekend. Now I have to work Fri and Sat that weekend, but he will get some packing done that I can't do...especially in his "man cave", otherwise known as the garage.

This is an exciting time for us. We see God's hand at work in all the little details, and are trying to be brave and trust Him in the ones that aren't answered or completely understood yet. He hasn't taken us this far to let us flop...so onward we march!

We were told by his co-workers that it is getting into the 20's this week. Yikes. My man does NOT have a winter coat either. I so need to find one for him. This may be the first year we have to pack up our shorts and flip flops for more than a week! Ha.

Letting Go...it's a process!

I think I'm ready to begin sharing some of what it going on. It will probably be in bits and pieces (ha..like that Dianna?) because my emotions of late have been a roller coaster, ups and downs.

I've been so brave lately. I've been rather excited about the changes that are taking place. Until this week...and this morning is no different. I'm feeling rather sad about everything I'm being asked to give up. Up until now, I've been very willing to let go, even to the point of wanting to eliminate all the earthly things that weigh me down...all the stuff that just gets in the way of simplicity. I've been willing to say goodbye to friends and family, to go make new ones and be with old ones from my past. This morning I guess reality is setting in, the finality of a decision made a year ago. One that has sent us in a crazy upheaval this past year. One that I can only choose to believe was sifted through God's hands. That He does only what is for our good, and loves to give us good things...so this was not a curse. Even though at times my "hard" life felt like a curse. I feel as though I've been through hell and back. It's been hard to see God at all during some of it. But in the past month I have seen God walk with us, bless us, answer prayers, and give us peace in our journey. This has not been an easy journey...some of you know what I mean. Some of you have been through it too, even with differing circumstances. You have helped me through my tough times, encouraging me each step of the way. Thank you for that.

So to fill in the blanks for those of you who are still

wondering what I'm blubbering all about:

My man has accepted a job offer up in Connersville, Indiana.

My home state. *born and raised in Goshen, IN* Connersville is about a 3 hour drive to Goshen, where my parents and one brother still live. I have another brother in Indy, only about 40 minutes away. Many of you know we went up there a few weeks ago. It was mainly to do our "due diligence" and check the area, people and job out...to keep walking through to open doors God was providing us. To see if He'd close them. Well, He hasn't. The only doors He seems to be closing are the ones down here in Florida. I have been rather "dull" to everything...just trying to be obedient, and trust He is in control. He's asking alot from us. I don't want to miss God in this.

So today I plan to inform my employer of our decision, but intend to continue working another month or two, depending on how desperately then need me there. I've got a zillion things that need to happen, packing to start, selling things we don't want to take with us, selling the house we built and thought we were going to retire in, and of course in doing all that, a flood of memories from the past 27 years of life here in Florida. Saying goodbye to family and friends...and grandbabies. *oh, the tears are in full force now just thinking of that one* Please don't say to me, "How can you leave your grandbabies?" That's not a fair question. We are obeying God's leading in this. It's not what we would have chosen. It is what it is. Kids leave home all the time. I guess it's hard because this time it is the parents who are leaving. I thank those that have helped me see through your experience being separated from family and grandkids, how you can still remain close even though distance separates. It will mean I must work at it more creatively, but that is my desire. I don't intend to move away and never see them again. Right?

Sorry about that rant...like I said, a roller coaster of emotion. Okay...I need to get moving and get ready for work. I just want to leave you with I know God's plans are good for us, He can turn beauty from ashes, and He has something special for us up in Connersville, I just know it. I am really excited about our new life up there. It's going to be an adventure. It will allow me to do things I can't do down here having to work. I should not have to work once we move...unless I want to part time somewhere. It will allow me to spend more time with my mom...whom I've missed dearly. *I love you chicka mom!*

Traveling Rookie Making Strides

Haven't stopped by much

because I've been away what seems like forever!

*only 10 days to be exact*

Most of you know while my man worked in Ft. Myers

I got to spend a glorious week at Sanibel Island in Florida.

*a tropical paradise for sure*

This was the view I saw every day

*hard life, eh?*

I didn't have any requirements, no deadlines,

or any plans...just relaxing.

*you know how hard it is to do that,

after the first day or so?*

But I managed okay.

The only thing to complain about were

the love bugs and the bug bites I got everywhere.

*sand fleas?*

I'm still scratching them all!!

Well, once home from the beach, we packed up

and headed to Indiana.

Ladies, I had to pack all my stuff for

4 days in this one little suitcase!

It looks bigger than it is.

Then all my makeup and products into a little

clear plastic bag...

Not an easy task, but I did it.

*My man was so proud of me!*

The hard part for me is flying.

I like getting to places quicker,

but I usually get queasy on the plane.

I don't like the security stuff you

must endure too.

Or trying to find a place for your

carry on luggage if you are the last

zone they call.

We had seats up front, but

our luggage usually ended up in the back. Duh!

Okay all that aside,

we went from tropical island to this.

Lots of gorgeous colors,

rolling hills,

plenty of corn fields,

and very friendly people!

Also spent time with my family.

My brother Dave and his wife Cathy.

My mom and dad.

My niece Rachel in her new kitchen.

And not pictured, my younger brother Dan, and his son Matt.

*Good times, good memories*

It was a whirlwind trip,

lots of driving,

one speeding ticket...ahem,

sleeping in a different place each night

*not really great for my back*

I made it, and survived the traveling.

I feel excited to keep on going, recharged!

Lots going on, I know you are all eager to hear about.

But that will have to wait until later.

Gotta have something to bring you all back!!

My prayer today

is to be so tuned to the Spirit of God

that I would know intuitively in my spirit

what the right place is,

what I am supposed to be doing,

and how I am supposed to do it.

To have the joy of the Lord that gives me the

strength to press on,

go forward,

to endure hardship as a good soldier,

to accomplish,

to fulfill,

to prepare thoroughly,

and to face pain unflinchingly.

To overcome pain, sorrow, shame,

discouragement,

and every sort of negative emotion

(which I've experienced these past few months)

in having to make a course correction,

and to remain centered in the joy

that God's perfect will provides.

Even when I can't trust my own heart,

I can trust God's.

He can be trusted

Thinking about Life and September Happenings

Who would of 'thunk' that I would only do ONE post *besides this one* the whole month of September, and this month is almost gone...away for good. Life is happening too fast. I don't seem to be getting anything done either. *sadness*

I've been thinking...and thinking hard. My mind races with life and all that is going on in the lives of others as well as our own trials, opportunities and blessings. I can't wait until someday I can process everything in such a way as to put it down in writing and make sense of it all...at least to tell a story. *someday*

But for now, I do want to give you a brief little update.

I read this awesome book by Mary Beth Chapman,

"Choosing to SEE".

It tells the story of their lives together, and the family, and the death of their little Maria. I found it refreshingly honest and sincere, and encouraging to me, especially if you are struggling and going through ANY kind of trial in life.

Then the CD by Steven Curtis Chapman,

"Beauty Will Rise"

is powerful and so healing.

For much the same...it isn't all just music about little Maria, but about the struggle to believe and trust God in the hard times. To say He's Faithful, you will trust Him, to see Him at work even when we don't understand. I have listened to this music every day for the whole month. Wow. I love it, and it couldn't have been more timely.

We've been doing okay, but just in the past week we've had some opportunities come up that involve change if we act on them. Big change. So we are in the search out information mode, investigating the opportunities, and lots and lots of prayer going on with seeking counsel. Will share more about it next week as time permits.

How about I end this little post with some of the things I've done this month? Nothing super exciting, but there have been some firsts.

I tasted my first raw goat's milk. *it actually tasted great, and just like cow's milk...I was surprised*
Went on our first ever train ride with the family and grandbabies. *maybe it shouldn't qualify as a real train ride, as the top speed was only about 11mph...but it was fun for the little guys*
I've gained 6 pounds back. *let's just pretend we didn't see this and move right on along, okay?*
Have gone from stressed and grumpy, to tired but content, to excited and hopeful, back to stressed and overwhelmed...all in a matter of weeks. *I'm currently living a life on this roller coaster of emotions, and really wish I could stabilize them!*
Had an awful experience at the dentist a few weeks ago. (Now I've had plenty of root canals, and spent most of my life at the dentist...so this is not new for me) Had a root canal done, and it was actually less painful, than going to get my temporary crown done at the dentist. Unbelievable. The tooth still isn't "right"...but I'm too afraid to go back and have them tweak it, cuz I don't want to endure any more torture!
My man and I secured a condo on Sanibel Island, Florida for our first vacation this year! *Wow--Super Excited!* He is doing contract work down in Ft. Myers, and they pay him a stipend each day. *think I mentioned that last time* So we are taking that and since I get a week off next week, I figured I'd go down with him and relax on the beach. Never been down there, so I can't wait for some R & R!

I came across this Bible verse -

Ecclesiastes 10:19 (NLT)

"A party gives laughter,

wine gives happiness,

and money gives everything!"

Now I believe it's more of a warning to the foolish...

but doesn't it sound like a fun motto to have? *wink*

I do know for myself,

that laughter is really needed

when things are hard.

And family times together

are so special indeed.

We need money to live on,

and it does afford us some fun...

but I really don't believe "it's EVERYTHING!"

As far as the wine part...well,

you choose your "poison"! Ha.

I can't wait to spend some quality time with you all next week.

It's Been a Whole Month!

Yes, it has!

A very long one.

Just have time this morning before

leaving for work to give a brief update.

Things are going well.

We aren't stressing over the

lack of money any more...

just working! Ha.

Work is still hard on me,

but I am adjusting to it.

Today I am going to the dentist before work,
to get the final crown on my
tooth that had a root canal a few weeks ago.
(That's been a fiasco!)

I've been praying and journaling

and contemplating life.

Will try to post thoughts and all,

when I actually have some time.

And that my friends, may be in a few weeks.

I get a week of vacation...yeah!

My man is being sent down to Ft. Myers

to do some contract work, and

they give him a stipend for expenses.

So, we are renting a condo on

Sanibel Island, and gonna go

have me some good ole R & R!

I plan to sleep in,

walk the beach,

swim,

and...BLOG!

And to share some of the fun we had

a few weekends ago, over Labor Day,

God is in control, and

Many of you have noticed I've been missing!

In fact, I noticed I lost a few followers...

probably because of my unexcused absence.

Sorry...but truly,

Yes, I do. But there isn't one in sight.

Our office has been very crazy lately.

One of the tellers lost her grandma, and

so I am working extra hours

to help out this week and next.

Nothing new on the job front with my man...other

than he has applied to many,

traveled to take tests, and

we are walking through every door

that opens.

Nothing happens quickly,

and no one has made an offer yet.

So we continue to march on ...

and wait.

There isn't much left of me to be creative.

I do try to keep up when I can

but not like I would like.

So for now, I ask you to be patient.

And excuse my absence...as I am

not sure how long it will be before

I have a creative moment to

share something wild and fun.

I am longing to marvel at something,

and be "wowed" with some

awesome travel adventure.

(just like in the movie "Eat, Love, Pray")

To spend quality time with family

and friends and eat, laugh and relax.

Yup, that's what I need!

It's Sunday, and I have a few moments

1. Do you think mustaches are sexy? - I guess so because I like one on my man! I do like them close shaven and trimmed, not long and shaggy!

2. What's the last concert you've been to? - I think it would have to be Andre Rieu a few years ago. We like to hang out with the "older" crowds...ha.

3 What was your favorite 80's sitcom? - I had to google this to even remember what they were! So after reviewing the list I recalled that I did enjoy watching "Too Close for Comfort" and "Growing Pains" on a regular basis. I'm sure there were a few more, but nothing that I was crazy over!

4. Were you named after anyone? - I think it is a mix of my mom and her best friend. My mom's name is Marilyn. Mine is Mari Lynn. But she always tells me that her best friend was Mary, so she did a spin on it. (correct me if I'm wrong mom). It really is my first name, and I don't technically have a middle...but I didn't like the Lynn part growing up, so I just used Mari. I use the "L" as my middle initial now.

5. When you buy new clothes, do you wash before wearing? - Depends on the item and if it needs to be ironed or not, or if it is a dry clean item (which I really try to stay away from buying!)

6. If you didn't blog, what would you do with your spare time? - Seriously? WHAT spare time? Oh I wish!! I can barely squeeze time in to do this once a week these days.

7. What is your favorite department store? - I'm not very "hip" or trendy, so I like classic looks and fits. I usually find my best fitting clothes at JC Penny. Sometimes I shop at Bealls (in Florida).

8. If you were to get Laser Hair Removal..where would you get it? - It would have to be my mustache area and chin. Maybe even my eyebrows. I hate that I can't see my gray hairs any more (eyes are getting old), but I know they are there!

Letting Go

Letting go can be painful,

but at the same time become freeing.

It still doesn't make it easy to do.

This weekend I've been able to:

Let go of some stress

(some cancellations made it possible to have

an enjoyable relaxing Saturday)

Let go of some anger

(towards my man and God)

Let go of something we've been

holding onto trying to make work.

(It's time to let the ship sink...if God

wants to resurrect it, He will

do so in His own time.)

I wish I could let go of

some of this excess weight!

(That's for a post all by itself...sigh!)

Don't have all the answers to what needs to happen next,

but we are making some letting go decisions.

It's been hard.

I've been grumpy, tired, selfish, cranky,

angry, depressed, sad...you name it.

So my man and I decided

*well, my man decided for us*

to name August our

"Be Kind to One Another" month.

Ephesians 4: 31-32

31 - Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander,

as well as all types of evil behavior.

32 - Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted,

forgiving one another,

just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Don't know where we are headed,

but we are asking God to start helping

us to connect the dots and move forward,

instead of in circles or up and down.

And we will be letting go of more things.

I don't want to wait 10 more years to
start enjoying life.

I want to enjoy it NOW for the
next 10 years as well.

Whatever we have to do
to get that accomplished is
where we want to move towards.

Stuff is just stuff.

Sometimes it's good to let go of the

dead weight that drags us down and

keeps us locked up in moving ahead.

"God we are open, we are listening,

we are willing.

Will you show us what you have

in store for us and

bless us?"

The Beauty in the Skies

Life has been hard. Things aren't how we had hoped. I feel as though my soul and dreams have been "sucked" out of me. But...I prayed that God would show me his love in a special way and let me see His beauty that was meant just for my eyes specifically so I would notice it.

Last night my man and I went to St. Pete Beach *again* to enjoy the evening. When we arrived it looked like it was going to start storming. The skies were threatening, dark, thundering and lightning everywhere...but not really ON the beach...but more inland. We took the chance and stayed there, riding it out, watching the storm with a few brave *or stupid* others. When it started to rain *not hard, just light* we got into the ocean and just enjoyed the silliness of it all. There were others in the water with us just waiting and enjoying the moment.

It did pass and the beach got busy with people once again right before sunset time. We hung out sitting in our chairs talking, and once we heard thunder behind us again and turned around to see another dark storm coming, we decided it was time to head home.

I'm glad we did, because on the drive home, I was awestruck by God's beautiful colors he was painting in the sky just for me. It started when I noticed the sun finally peak-a-booing through the clouds right on the horizon just before it set in the West. Then I looked to the East and it was dark, stormy and cloudy..but there was a gorgeous bright and colorful full rainbow. Wow.

The rainbow was actually in the midst of dark clouds

with lightning like this:

To the left of the dark, midnight blues, blacks and greys of the

storm clouds where this gorgeous big bright rainbow nestled,

where clouds of many different blues.

There were light blue, royal blue, colbolt blue, turquoise blue,

deep blue...breathtaking!

Then to the left of the blues were reds, magentas,

purples, pinks....

Then to the left of that was where the sun was setting and it cast

golds, bright yellows, oranges...

Then the sun settled into the horizon, and the rainbow disappeared.

We drove home in silence *mostly because we were both tired*

but I sat pondering how God just demonstrated

His love to me through the

beauty in the skies.

His colorful, majestic, creative handiwork.

It has renewed my hope for the moment.

God just gave me a rainbow in the

midst of the storm.

How precious!

So tonight I get home from work to discover that my blog design is going away, and hard as I've tried I can't get through to the site to change anything. Now I just tried and it says it will be "down for maintenance for the next 24-48 hours". GREAT!

I have no idea what will happen tomorrow to this site or what it will actually look like, or if you will be able to see it at all. So for now I will just let you know that once I get it changed and all fixed, I will be back. Never fear...can't keep me away for long!

This week has been a long one, and I always seem to be tired at the end of the day, so just am not up to blogging anything. What happened to my energy? *if I ever had it to begin with*

I'm not where I really want to be in this life, nor doing what I dreamed I'd be doing. So feeling rather down tonight. (this blog thing doesn't help either)

I hopefully will be back to my normal "cheerful" self once I get redesigned.

Rejoicing Today!

Just a brief check in today to share the good news for this week. It has been a long week for me, and although it started out in tears, it ended in praising! My man got word Friday, that he has some work! Woot, woot! Even though it's not a permanent job at this time, it is work and could turn into something later. He still has some other applications out, and we are even still hoping something might come out of the job he interviewed for last week. But for now...there is some income, besides mine, coming in. Thank you Lord!!

This good news has come at a great time for our moral and spirits, and we are thanking Him for His provision and care. Continue to pray with us for further direction and future plans for our life.

I had to work today, and it went very well. I loved the gals I worked with and wonder to myself, why I didn't get a job at either of the branches I trained at or even the one I was at today...but instead got a "tough" one. I just have to trust that God wants me there for a reason, even if it is not the preferred or funnest one out there. I do enjoy the gals, so for that I am thankful.

Tonight...my man and I are planning to head to the beach for a few hours, for some relaxation after a long, tough week.

Here's a little video we made for our JJ man, for his 3rd birthday. *please forgive my singing...it is not my strength!* I will try to get one out of the 2 boys as soon as I can. (I got to play with them both on Wednesday this past week for the afternoon, and loved every minute of it!)

Still Alive and Kicking

You are all so very patient with this woman! I fail miserably at staying motivated to blog while things are so depressing around here. But with that said, we are trying our best to keep our spirits up even in all the disappointments life is giving us. There are days though, that I just "lose" it and all I have the strength to do is come home, grunt at my man, and go to bed. (He probably would say more on that subject...but I won't let him...ha!)

He is so sweet and patient with me through it all. He even had roses delivered to me at work the other day to let me know in his special way that he loves me...still through it all. *all the gals swooned* (which reminds me of the time we were dating and I was working the drive through at a bank up in Pensacola and he came up to the window, put one red rose in the drawer, winked, and drove away. It made all the gals there next to me go, "ohhhhhhhhh, how sweet!" He always did have a heartwarming and charming style about him.)

Anyhooo, to give you all an update on my job. This week I started at my "home" branch finally. Tuesday, was NOT a good day, and I felt like a duck out of water, wondering why everything has to be so hard. But as the week has gone on, the ladies have warmed up to me, and given me a lot of help. I'm not liking it as much as the branch I mentored at, but it will do for now. I am determined to make the best of it, and learn what I can. At least I have balanced every day so far!! The sales referral part is the part that is gonna bite me...I really dislike that part.

Today has been fun, because I got off early and came home to play with my little man, JJ. He's not been feeling well this week, so he's kinda low key, but it's been a joy just to have him here that's for sure. I love those grandbabies. Hold on...he's yelling, "more" for me to go put on another movie for him to watch.

Okay, back. Where was I...oh, yes, work. Speaking of work, my man has been very down because he's not gotten any offers lately. The longer it goes, the harder it gets for both of us.

Today driving into work, I was listening to a CD from Selah and the just of the words said basically: "God is up in Heaven and sees all of us down here, He will not abandon us, so we have nothing to fear" -- well I told God at that moment, "I know your Word says you won't abandon us, but I'm feeling like an orphan now, Lord, so please show us that you are still with us taking care of us, and that you haven't forgotten about us." I didn't hear anything from Him then, but just thought I needed to voice that to Him and remind God that we are struggling and very battle weary.

Later today, while JJ was here, and I was getting dinner ready, my man got an email from a company asking him for an interview next week--Monday to be exact. He says he applied for this job about a week ago. That's all I'm saying for now. We are too afraid to get our hopes up, but this is an area he would love to go to, and it has given him some encouragement for now to get through the weekend.

I'm asking you all pray harder than you've ever prayed before, because I KNOW you all are praying for us daily!! Pray that God would bless us, and if this is His will for us, we'd get an offer, that it will all work out, and the job would provide the basis financially that we NEED. Again, we want God's BEST. (don't know why we've had to endure the trials these past 8 months to see God's best, but we are hoping it is around the corner sooner rather than later. I really don't think we can take many more let downs as we are very crushed and broken in spirit)

My updates will be sporadic over the next few weeks, but please just keep praying for us, and sending me your love and hugs every now and then. I love them, and need them more than you can know....and I am very grateful for you dear friends and followers who stick with me.

Now...off to play some choo choo and cars with my little man upstairs. He's calling for his 'Goey' to come! *gotta love it!*

Waiting on God

Things have been very tough for us these past months. Most of you know that. There are many of you that are struggling through many of the same financial/income issues as well.

I have to be honest that even though I can be very sure and confident of God and His Word...there are times I just hit rock bottom. Fear sets in and causes such bondage in my life that it is paralyzing to say the least.

We hit bottom last Friday. Seems like we have gone after many different options, jobs, opportunities, and dreams only for each one to be broken. We get ourselves all hopeful at the beginning of each day, each week, each month---only to be defeated and discouraged at the end of each day, week or month. This past weekend, we even got to the point where we BOTH felt we'd be willing to sell the house and move...just about anywhere God would lead. That hasn't happened until now....I wasn't willing before.

I laid all this out to God yesterday morning in a prayer. We "had it out" you might say. I had to vent and let Him know I was very discouraged at heart, and withering. Now, there was no fan fare, or voices or miracles that have happened...but somehow my heart *burden* got lighter.

I was very fearful going in to this new branch to mentor/train yesterday. I prayed before going inside, "Here we go God...please let it be a good day and help me through." I was greeted warmly and I loved these ladies I worked with and will be spending all week with. It was a great experience! My hope was renewed!!

So in this very uncertain and fearful place we are being taken through, we continue to WAIT. We wait on God to guide us, give us strength to continue on, and are expectant for His provision. We are not sure at all why He has allowed us to go through this long, seemingly unending trial and financial pressure. It has been the hardest struggle we've ever encountered so far in our married life. Usually we see God do something awesome for us much sooner, but this time God has chosen to be still, while we wait....while He prunes our hearts and refines our message and our faith in Him.

It's been a long rocky road, and I'm not sure what's around the bend---I pray it's not more disappointment, but blessing. I can't say I've been the perfect picture of patience...oh no, quite the contrary! I've struggled to be joyful in my circumstances. I've pouted, gotten mad, angry and bitter. I've cried and gotten depressed. I've felt sorry for myself. I've wanted to just give up and fade away. But I know that because we've gone through these fiery trials we will be stronger for it---and when the release of pressure comes, or the answer to our prayers, or even just an open door to show us the way...we will be that much more joyful in rejoicing.

"Waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don't see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy."

Faith, Hope and Love

Remember the necklace my kids gave me for Mother's Day?

I've been wearing it everyday, and constantly am playing with the circles,

praying for faith, hope and love.

With the circumstances that have come our way lately, especially the very disappointing news that my man didn't get the job he had hoped for, it's been a huge temptation to become hopeless. I really want to quit, get mad at God for allowing all of this, and just shrivel up.
*don't worry...I won't*

I pulled out my prayer book, "Blessing Your Spirit" this morning and guess what the next three prayers are about? You got it: Faith, Hope and Love! I do believe besides "Wait" that these are the words that describe our year.

So to help my spirit soak in the truth of God's word, and to help those of you struggling, I will type out some of the prayer that really ministered to my weary soul and spirit today,
praying for each of

you as well that these prayers will encourage you today:

I bless you with hope when your expectation is delayed.

When your temptation to hopelessness

continues without fulfillment,

your Father says that those who wait for Him

will never be put to shame.

I bless you with a strong sense in your spirit

of standing on the solid rock of God's faithfulness and timing,

and the unshakable confidence

that your Father is in charge of your circumstances.

I bless you with knowing that there is no valley of trouble

that He intends you to pass through

without His wisdom and guidance and grace.

I bless you with remaining in the three-fold cord of faith, hope and love

and allowing your Father to replace your burden with His faith,

your disappointment with His hope,

and your doubts with His love.

I bless you with offering Him with your spirit a sacrifice of thanksgiving,

with singing songs in the night of your soul,

with connecting with your Father in a special and deep way

as you praise Him for His unchangeableness.

I bless you with unshakable hope, when everything else is shaken.

Good Word for Today

I am taking heart this morning that God is holding us up with his loving hands. There are times I feel like we have fallen and will never get back up...but He is in control, and based on these verses, He won't let us fall. That gives me hope today! We are still waiting to hear anything on my man's job opportunity from the interview last week. Praying fervently that we will get some good news on that front soon...even today!

My training is going well. Mostly just computer stuff now, which is B-O-R-I-N-G...but hey, I'm not complaining, cuz it's not hard. Different aspects of the job come back to me as I go through each section. Thanking God for allowing this job opportunity for me to come my way...it's a much better fit for me!

1. What is your favourite colour? : - Pink
2. What is your favourite flower? : - Roses -- used to be carnations. But I think my tastes have changed some.
3. When you go out to eat what is your favourite restaurant/or meal? : - Macaroni Grill is my favorite. But I do like Red Lobster, and Outback Steakhouse too!
4. Have you been to any of your high school reunions? If so did you have fun? : - Nope. No time or money to do it.
5. If you had a couple of free hours to go play hooky on a weekday, what would you do by yourself? : - Play with my grandbabies. Or take time to myself and maybe get a massage!
6. What is your favourite piece of clothing in your closet right now and why? : - My new work clothes I got from my friend, Gail. I love new things, especially hand me downs!
7. Pearls or diamonds? : - Diamonds. Bling is in for me!
8. What is your favorite ice cream flavour? : - Dark Chocolate...I love Moose Tracks too. Every now and then, though, I go with vanilla. It just depends.
9. What is your favorite Holiday and why? : - Christmas. I love the anticipation of it more than the day itself. I love to decorate and wait for it to come. The after is usually a let down...but I love the time with family.
10. If you could have a $1,000 shopping spree anywhere, in which store would you spend it? : - Wow...that's a great question. So many things we need. But if I could spend it on something I wanted, it would have to be a vacation that we never got to do this year. And I would invite the whole family and grandbabies out for the fun.

Late Monday Update

I am psyched! Today went well...very well!! I even found out that I am training in good old Plant City...a mile from home. How cool is that? Only God!

My man hasn't heard anything yet. Trying to stay positive and hopeful.

I am tired, and gonna go to bed. It has been a great day and I am thinking this week will be pretty cool.

It's Monday Morning Already?

My week and a half off was awesome, but reality hits this morning as I eat my bowl of Cheerios with a banana, drink my coffee, make my egg salad sandwich for lunch, and get ready to drive the long distance to the corporate office for my orientation of the new job. I will be there half the day, then I get to drive the hour back to where I will be working to observe and guess get filled in on how things are done. The rest of the week will be training as far as I understand.

I take comfort this morning in knowing you are all praying for me. I'll ask for you to lift up my man too. He is waiting to hear back from the company he interviewed with last week. We were hoping to hear back Friday, but God again has us waiting. I'm a bit anxious about it all, as he already left the other job he started...it wasn't working out. (sound familiar? ha. God has him going down much the same path as I did)

I can't wait until I see clear enough to write all this down in a book for the world to see. It should be a doozy of a story!

Happy Father's Day

Today not only do I want to honor my own dad,

but I'd like to wish all the special men in our family a very

Happy Father's Day!

My dad and I are alot alike,

in fact...

the older I get the more everyone thinks

I am more like him. *sigh*

It wasn't until I left home that I realized

how very special and

awesome he truly is.

He always worked hard to provide for us.

Many times working 2 or 3 jobs at once.

He was very organized,

planned trips to the minutest detail.
To this day he still makes
his daily "to do" lists.

He loves garage sales, and

loves to get a bargain.

We are alike in the way we see things

black and white. There's no gray areas!

We are tough on the outside,

but really just a softy on the inside.

I'm thankful for the role my dad had

in giving us our godly heritage.

He loves to witness and always

seems to help the down and out.

I love you dad so very much!

Thank you for all that you have done for me and for

our families growing up.

So in honor of my dad, and the other men in our family:

"May the Lord bless each one of you and

your households, and cause His face

to shine upon you!"

My man couldn't wait to read me this paragraph

from an article in June's "Inc." magazine.

They interviewed a couple of entreprenuers and CEO's of

their own companies,

Ken Lehman and Yvon Chouinard.

The question:

"If you were starting a company today,

what would you do to create the

best possible workplace?"

Lehman gives an answer that includes creating an atmosphere

where the business was a family.

Chouinard then comments:

"I couldn't state it better than that.

But I would add one thing.

I would search out older women as employees.

Ones that have already raised

families and are looking for

something to do.

These people have lived with a budget.

They are aggressive.

They are honest.

You can't find better employees.

They are one of the most

underused resources in America."

How cool is that?

Wish I felt that confident!
